Coenzyme Q10 (Co Q10) is a vitamin-like substance synthesized by the body and is essential to the production of energy in every cell in the body. This powerful antioxidant boosts energy, promotes optimum heart health, strengthens the arteries, combats skin and gum disease, and slows the development of age-related diseases. It is very difficult to obtain enough Co Q10 from our diet because it is destroyed by heat (cooking food), and although the body manufactures a significant amount of Co Q10 when we are young, this production declines with age. Many people of middle age and older have Co Q10 deficiency and low levels of Co Q10 are associated with an increased risk for a number of age-related diseases. Co Q10 is found in some foods including beef, peanuts, and sardines but a daily Co Q10 supplement is a wise precautionary measure, particularly for those with a family history of conditions including heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure. It also prevents arteriosclerosis by reducing the accumulation of oxidized fats on arterial walls. Reduced levels of coenzyme Q₁₀ have also been implicated in memory loss and impaired cognitive function. Perhaps the most recent threat to critical levels of this coenzyme is associated with statin use; statins inhibit the production of both cholesterol and coenzyme Q₁₀, as they are both synthesized from the same substance, mevalonate.
Human studies have shown that CoQ10 can help migraine sufferers by: preventing migraine occurrence, reducing number of days with migraine headache by more than 50%, reducing monthly frequency of headaches by more than 50%, being effective without any side effects. The evidence favoring CoQ10's effectiveness and safety is so compelling that, as of 2015, the Canadian Headache Society included CoQ10 in its list of compounds receiving a strong recommendation for migraine prevention.
GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid that functions as a neurotransmitter in the human brain. GABA is naturally produced in the body and its presence within the central nervous system may help promote relaxation and ease nervous tension. Everyday stress is a normal part of modern living. For some people, the stress can be overwhelming and lead to anxiety or insomnia, as well as long-term, accumulated stress. GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a natural calming agent in the brain that can help ease the effects of stress. GABA is an effective option for anyone dealing with mental, emotional, or physical stress. It supports the nervous systems' ability to cope with stress that may otherwise lead to depression, angry outbursts, complete burnout, or illness
Resveratrol is a polyphenolic compound found in various berries and herbs. It is the main component in red wine that is responsible for its touted health benefits. Research has confirmed that resveratrol has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in the body with the potential to impact many chronic diseases. Resveratrol provides a rich source of antioxidants that helps to combat the damaging effects that medications, pollution, UV rays, and dietary choices have on cell health. Studies have shown that it reduces cholesterol and triglycerides, lowers blood pressure, and lowers the incidence of plaque formation. Resveratrol has been shown to work as an anti-cancer agent, blocking events that occur during cancer initiation, promotion and progression. Resveratrol provides amazing anti-aging benefits!
